Vivaldi update on Android brings improved tracking lock

Vivaldi released a new update for its Android mobile browser with some small tweaks and changes to the built-in tracker lock and navigation interface. Vivaldi 3.2 on Android enhances the browser's built-in ad blocker and tracker with additional block lists as well as custom blocking options. Users can now choose from a number of sources and preloaded block lists within Vivaldo, including country-specific lists. As for importing a custom block list, Vivaldi says it made the process simple and similar to the desktop version of your browser. Users can access the new options in Vivaldi by heading to Settings> Privacy> Tracker & Ad Blocking> Manage Tracker Blocking Sources and Manage Ad Blocking Sources. Along with the improved crawler...

Google app beta drops built-in browser, goes back to Chrome

Google recently added a built-in browser to the Google app on Android. Now, just a few months later, it looks like the search giant is taking it back out. As reported by 9to5Google, Google spent a few months building an in-app browser solution for the Google app. In April, that built-in browser replaced the previous solution, which opened links in a Chrome Custom Tab. Custom tabs, for those unfamiliar, are a way for apps to load webpages using a browser like Chrome without kicking users into a separate app. It remains unclear why Google felt the need to build an in-app browser when the Chrome Custom Tab system worked well.
