Catalonia registers 2,288 cases and six deaths in the last 24 hours

  • The rate of risk of regrowth rises and those admitted to ICU fall slightly

Catalonia has registered until this Tuesday 1,040,572 cumulative confirmed cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic –957,872 with a PCR test or antigen test – 2,288 more than in Monday’s count, reports the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat through its website.

In the last 24 hours Six deaths have been registered and the total number of deaths is 24,121: There are 15,412 in hospital or health center, 4,657 in residence, 1,259 at home and 2,793 that are not classifiable due to lack of information.

Regarding the patients currently admitted, the figure stands at 660, four more than last count.

A total of 141 patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICU) of public and private centers, two less than last count: 80 require invasive ventilation (intubation), six require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ecmo), and 55 require support without intubation.

The speed of reproduction of the disease (rt) rises slightly at 1.35 and the percentage of positivity of the antigen and PCR tests stands at 6.04%, while the cumulative incidence in the last 14 days is 245.24 per 100,000 inhabitants and the mean age of the confirmed cases is 38.18 years.

The rate of risk of regrowth has risen: on Monday it was at 301 and 24 hours later it is at 325.

Catalonia administered the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 6,048,021 people since the vaccination campaign began, of which 5,949,763 already have the complete schedule: there are 5,306 new immunized with the first dose in the last 24 hours.

In percentages, 76.3% of the Catalan population is vaccinated with at least one dose of the vaccine, while 75% already have the complete vaccination schedule.
