Carmen Calvo preside over the Equality Commission of the Congress of Deputies and Jose Luis Ábalos the Interior. The former First Vice President and the former Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE left the Government in July.

The socialist parliamentary group has proposed these changes this Thursday, which must be ratified with a vote in the respective committees after the resignation of the current presidents, also of the PSOE.

The only case where a prior resignation will not be necessary is in the Equality Commission, since at present there was no president as Pilar Cancela left this position after her appointment, at the beginning of July, as Secretary of State for International Cooperation.

Ábalos will preside over the Interior Committee of the Congress in substitution of Ana Maria Botella, who will go on to chair the Education and Vocational Training Commission instead of Sergio Gutierrez, who, in turn, will preside over Foreign Affairs, thus relieving Pau Marí.

With these changes, the PSOE offers new positions of responsibility to Ábalos and Calvo, after the Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, dispense with them in the deep remodeling of his cabinet in summer.
