Canirac and Canaco Servytur Monterrey expect a spill of 1,161 million pesos this Mother’s Day

Monterey, NL. The National Chamber of the Restaurant and Spiced Food Industry (Canirac), estimated that this May 10 they could reach sales of 220 million pesos, since they have had a significant influx of consumers since the weekend, Daniel García Rosales, president of the organization, told El Economista.

He said that a comparison cannot be made against May 2021 because at that time there was a permitted capacity of 30%, due to the fourth wave of Covid-19.

“With the pandemic, the capacity was reduced to 30% and the operation made the workforce return to their places of origin, which they no longer returned. The deficit we have is 10 to 15%, from waiters, cashiers, dishwashers, everything related to customer service”, he highlighted.

The restaurant industry New Lionhas recovered in terms of the number of establishments, it has more than 20,000, many of them are small businesses, however, “inflation does not let us claim victory, for example, chicken and red meat had an increase of 150 %”, emphasized the leader.

Another drawback that the large establishments are facing is that they operate water-jet furnaces, and although they have cisterns and water tanks, with the reduction in water pressure announced by the state government, they could be affected.

“50% of small businesses could not be prepared” and they are the ones that are going to have the most problems, said García Rosales.

For its part, the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Monterreyestimated that this Mother’s Day will have an economic spill of 941 million pesos, which means an increase of 8.5%, compared to last year.

The president of Canaco Servytur Monterrey, Javier Arteaga Gutiérrez, said that the spill last year was 867 million pesos.

He pointed out that the items that consumers demand the most on this date are flowers, cakes, food, appliances, furniture, perfumery, cell phones, electronic devices, jewelry, cosmetics, footwear, and women’s clothing.

He considered that entertainment centers, such as theaters, concerts and cinemas, will also have an upturn in their activity.
