The Windsor-Essex Relay for Life will be June 11 from 6-10 pm at the Libro Center in Amherstburg. The event was held virtually the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Relay for Life has served as a CCS fundraiser since 1999. Participants take turns walking around a track or path “to symbolize the perseverance and action needed to change the future of cancer,” according to the CCS website.

Cancer survivors are honored during the first lap, which is known as the Lap of Hope. When the sun sets, luminaries are lit along the path or track in memory of those who have died.

The event also features an opening ceremony with inspirational stories and entertainment.

Physical distancing and other protective measures will be in place to ensure the safety of all participants. Those wishing to register can do so at survive.cancer.ca. Questions about the local event can be emailed to [email protected].

The Libro Center is located at 3295 Meloche Dr.
