Ticket details for Hamilton’s game will be announced in the coming weeks for the crucial match of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
“We are excited to bring the men’s FIFA World Cup qualifying game to Hamilton in January,” said Dr. Nick Bontis, President of Canada Soccer.
Bontis noted that the team is “riding a wave of national support at the top of the table and after an incredible display from the Edmontonians in November.”
“We expect to see a sea of red at Tim Hortons Field in January,” added Bontis.

The senior team is anticipated to play once again amid snow banks and temperatures potentially around -4 C amid a Canadian winter for Matchday 10.
In the past, the closed BC Place in Vancouver has been the obvious choice for mid-winter games.
However, a renovation that installs new grass at the site will take the team east into an environment likely to rival a successful two-game set amid the ice and snow at Commonwealth in Edmonton earlier this month.
The two Alberta games drew huge crowds, more than 40,000 each. Temperatures during the victory against Mexico on November 16, nicknamed “Iceteca”, hovered around -11 C.
So far, Canada is at the top of the CONCACAF third round standings, one point ahead of the USA.
The top three teams in the group of eight will advance to the group stage of the 2022 World Cup scheduled for Qatar in November and December next year.
The match will mark the first time that the Canadian men’s national soccer team has played an “A” international match in Hamilton.
The women’s team last played in Hamilton against Germany in an “A” international friendly in 2018.
