Foreign Minister Marc Garneau and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday said they would work together on several hot issues.
The two men agreed to work closely together and coordinate their efforts towards a safe and sustainable reopening of the Canada-US border.
During their meeting, they also mentioned wanting to work together to support the Haitian people in the development of a more stable, democratic and prosperous future.

Minister Garneau and Secretary Blinken reiterated their intention to secure the release of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, arbitrarily detained in China since December 2018.
The latter, Canadian citizens, were jailed in December 2018, a few days after the arrest in Vancouver of Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of Chinese telecommunications giant, Huawei.
