Canacope Puebla expects to recover 1,750 jobs in 2022

Puebla, Pue. Until the second quarter of 2022, the conditions would be in place to recover the 1,750 jobs that are missing from the 3,500 lost in the commerce sector from August 2020 to September of this year, because there are no economic conditions or the businesses that just failed. they recover in sales.

The president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism in Small Businesses (Canacope) in Puebla, César González Morales, explained that the economic reactivation has been slow after the reopening last October and that makes it difficult to generate more jobs, so there are only the indispensable ones, which are two to three in most establishments .

He recalled that the dismissals occurred due to the bankruptcy or change of business of 1,500 businesses in the time that the pandemic has taken, among which are those of school supplies, aesthetics and gyms.

The leader stated that the most affected workers were general assistants and cashiers, whose casualties were due to the fact that sales were minimal and are currently at 60 percent.

He indicated that the increase in the workforce is based on having more activities that is reflected in income, but it depends a lot on the epidemiological panorama in which Puebla is, since if there is a regrowth it can turn orange and that would mean restrictions in capacity.

He considered that it is difficult for the sector to generate jobs because the vast majority became businesses in which all members of a family do some activity to save on personnel payments.

Pandemic

González Morales said that the vaccination against Covid-19 It has been efficient in stopping more deaths, but not in contagions as expected, which does concern small entrepreneurs, because they have employees who are over 50 and 60 years of age, who are vulnerable.

As a result, he said, they must work less time and if they have any illness, but they continue to receive their salary, which “is difficult to pay, when sales are low and they would stay that way in the first three months.”

“The expectation was to recover 60% of jobs in the second half of this year, but the third wave of Covid-19 changed the plans, damaging businesses and service providers,” he said.
