Canaco Querétaro urges to encourage productive investment and local consumption

Queretaro, Qro. Given the behavior that inflation has had, the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) local urged that both local consumption and the development of work be encouraged to generate productive investment.

The state president of kanakFabián Camacho Arredondo, requested that the federal government also bet on the development of infrastructure projects in the Bajío region, particularly in queretaro, with the aim of promoting local supply networks that activate consumption.

That the federal government can bet on investment in infrastructure in these spaces, that the companies that are here, the national ones, have scenarios of greater development. We believe that the capacity to generate strong investment in companies that trigger local supply and supply can be greatly strengthened,” said Camacho Arredondo.

If inflation persists and reaches levels of 8%, at the end of the first semester it would be unsustainable for local commerce, translating into direct increases in final consumer prices, he asserted.

“If this situation does not diminish at a global level, it would be inevitable that local businesses could continue to maintain direct prices to the consumer. Meanwhile, there is a commitment from various sectors to at least contain it to the extent that consumption is encouraged, ”he explained.

However, he stressed that among the sectors most affected by inflation are the restaurateur and the Construction Industrybeing pressured by increases in their direct supply.

However, he affirmed, for now the inflationary impact has been contained to a certain extent because the local commerce sector has chosen to absorb part of these increases; coupled with the incidence of festivities and holiday seasons that have been an incentive for consumption

“We hope that the second quarter of the year and for the first half of the year will have better results; At the local level, we have identified that the important dates to boost consumption have generated a compensation that allows businesses to contain the inflationary impact and thus not increase prices”, he explained.

On the occasion of May 10, the kanak expects an economic benefit of 380 million pesos in the state, accumulated from May 7 to 10, with increases in sales of 20% in restaurants, flower shops and department stores; however, he added that even then inflation remains a challenge.

It should be noted that the trade and services sector is one of the main components of the economic activity of Queretaro.

According to the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE), in 2021 the state economy would have grown 6.9% annually: secondary activities contributed 4.2 percentage points, followed by tertiary activities that contributed 2.8 points and primary activities registered a negative contribution of -0.1 percentage points, specifies the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (inegi).
