Canaco Puebla will request that parking meters operate during weekends

Puebla, Pue. The National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) will ask the city council of the state capital to extend the operation of parking meters to weekends, since it will help sales due to the increase in visitors by guaranteeing spaces.

Marco Antonio Prósperi Calderón, president of the organization, commented that it is not convenient to leave the use of the streets free on Saturday and Sunday, because there will be people who leave their vehicles for more than four hours occupying a place in the Historical Center and thereby reduce the opportunities for more people to arrive.

Canaco’s proposal is that the parking meters work from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., when they consider that there is more movement of people in the downtown area.

The chamber leader said that franeleros will also be prevented from having weekends to profit from the streets, since they cannot do so from Monday to Friday because the parking meters are working.

He commented that last week with the entry into force of the program, it helped to make better use of the streets, but Saturdays and Sundays were not considered, which was important for the benefit of shops Y restaurants.

He indicated that the schedules proposed by his agency are due to the fact that they have detected that at that time there is an influx of families, both locals and tourists, who need spaces to park.

Prósperi Calderón mentioned that there was a rapprochement with the mayor, Eduardo Rivera Pérez, to deliver the formal request and wait for a decision to be made for the benefit of businessmen in the area, who need to improve their sales.

He explained that in other cities of the country the parking meters are working all the time without any problem, which is why it should also happen in the Angelopoliswhich does not affect visitors, but on the contrary benefits because they will find a place.
