Calls NGO to focus efforts on security

The organization México Unidos Contra la Delincuencia (MUCD) considered that distracting the actions of law enforcement institutions in the persecution of opponents when there is a crisis of insecurity in the country is failing in the responsibility of guaranteeing security and justice to citizens.

After the constitutional reform in energy matters proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was rejected in the Chamber of Deputies, the national leader of Morena, Mario Delgado, announced that he would file a criminal complaint for treason against the 223 legislators who voted in against.

Given this fact, the organization considered that this act of intimidation against the opposition is contrary to the Constitution and “would set a dangerous precedent for the free exercise of democracy.”

MUCD considered that said threat is insensitive towards the victims of crime and their families and irresponsible given the crisis of insecurity, impunity and systematic violations of Human Rights that our country is experiencing.

He recalled that more than 95,000 people remain missing and more than 36,000 homicides continue to be recorded each year.
