The Easter weekend is almost here.

Alberta recognizes Good Friday, March 29, as an official holiday, but gives employers the option to observe other days also, in this case, Easter Monday, April 1.

Given the holiday, here is a list of businesses and services that are open, closed or operating with limited hours during the long weekend.

Calgary Zoo/Wilder Institute

The Calgary Zoo is open regular hours on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. The last entry with daily entry is at 4:00 p.m. and the last entry for members is at 5:00 p.m.

costco

Alberta Costco locations are open on Fridays and Mondays and closed on Sundays. They don’t make deliveries on Fridays.

Telus Spark Science Center

The science center is open during the long weekend, respecting weekend hours on Fridays and regular hours on Mondays.

Calgary Transit

On Fridays and Sundays, buses, CTrains and On Demand will operate at the Sunday level of service. You can use the trip planner to confirm when transit will be running. The Calgary Transit call center will be closed on Fridays and Sundays.

Additionally, major work is planned on the west leg of the CTrain Blue Line from March 29 to March 31, with service replaced by shuttle buses between the 69th Street and Westbrook stations.

Canada Post

Canada Post will not collect or deliver mail on Fridays or Mondays. According to their website, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the host company’s schedule.

Calgary Public Library

Libraries in Calgary will be closed on Friday. They will operate at regular hours for the rest of the weekend.

Landfills: All City of Calgary landfills are open on Fridays and Mondays and closed on Sundays.

Parking lot: Street parking in ParkPlus zones will be free on Fridays and Sundays. Parkades will observe weekend hours and prices on Friday.

Leisure centers: The Southland and Village Square leisure centers will be open on Fridays and Sundays, with reduced hours (11am to 5pm). All other leisure centers will be closed.

Shopping centers and grocery stores

Most major grocery and liquor stores will be open all weekend, but may have reduced hours.
