The Trades Campus program, a virtual academy set to start next Tuesday, will address the specific needs of under-represented groups in the skilled trades, according to Build A Dream president Nour Hachem-Fawaz.

“The program will connect participants with females in the industry, provide leadership opportunities and highlight employers and expectations,” Hachem-Fawaz said.

Build a Dream received the grant from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development to develop and offer a free program that provides education, recruitment, and retention for women in skilled trades.

The virtual program runs May 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26 from 6-7p.m. for students, pre-apprentices and/or those looking at trades as a second career; and 7-8 pm for apprentices and journeypersons, the latter with a focus on women already in the trades.
