Buffalo shooting leaves 10 dead; authorities investigate it as a “hate crime”


An 18-year-old gunman shot and killed 10 people and wounded three others Saturday at a grocery store in buffaloin the state of New Yorkbefore turning himself in to the police, in a fact that according to the authorities will be investigated as a hate crime and an “act of violence by racial extremism”.

Authorities said the white suspect, who was armed with an assault rifle and appeared to have acted alone, came to the city of Buffalo from another New York county “hours away” to attack the supermarket, located in a majority African-American community.

Eleven of the 13 people shot were black and two were Caucasian, US authorities said.

“I am actively monitoring the situation of the mass shooting at the grocery store. We stand with the people of Buffalo,” US Senator from New York State said on Twitter. Chuck Schumer.
