“I am saddened to hear that my ex-husband has decided to speak out about the relationship between me and my children,” Spears’ post read. “As we all know, raising teenagers is never easy for anyone… I am concerned that the reason is based on my Instagram… it was LONG before Instagram… I gave them everything.”

“Just one word: PAINFUL… I’ll say it… My mom told me, ‘You should GIVE THEM to your dad.’ I’m sharing this because I can,” she added. “Have a nice day folks!”

According to Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, “the boys have decided they’re not going to see her right now.”

“It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her,” he said. “They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”

spears she married actor Sam Asghari in June.

Federline, who spoke to the publication along with his current wife Victoria, said he apologized to the children for partially nude selfies their mother once posted on Instagram. (Spears typically obscured parts of her body with emojis or posed away from the camera in these photos.)

“I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way he’s trying to express himself,'” Federline told the publication. “But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it does them. It’s hard. I can’t imagine what it feels like to be a teenager who has to go to high school.”

In his own Instagram Story post, Asghari took issue with that.

“To clarify, my wife has never posted a nude selfie except of her butt, which (sic) is pretty modest these days,” Asghari wrote.

“Your statement about distancing children is invalid and it is irresponsible to make that statement publicly,” Asghari continued. “Children are very smart and soon they will be 18 years old to make their own decisions and eventually they will realize that the ‘hard’ part was having a father who hasn’t worked much in over 15 years as a role model.”

Federline, a former dancer, also showed his support for his former father-in-law, Jamie Spears, who was embroiled in a containment court case with his daughter that he ultimately won for being under legal guardianship for 13 years.

“I would certainly welcome Jamie Spears back into children’s lives, especially if that’s what the children wanted,” Federline said. “I have no hard feelings towards Jamie Spears. People make mistakes. I feel bad for him. I feel like he’s been put through a wringer.”
