24 mins: Andy Robertson shoots the ball into the area from the corner and selects Virgil van Dijk. He gets a good chunk of the ball but can’t get it on goal and sends his effort off the far post.

21 mins: Jordan Henderson takes the ball to the left side of the area, but the defending duo of Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal deflect it. Henderson holds the ball up the baseline, but Romero dives in and kicks the ball out for a corner kick. He knocks Henderson to the ground in the process and earns a scowl from the Liverpool captain.

18 mins: Trent Alexander-Arnold launches a quick cross from the right wing and Liverpool have Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz waiting to receive it. Emerson Royal gets between both players and jumps to win the ball in the air. He receives it with a good header and clears the box for Spurs.

15 minutes: Great defense! Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg passes down the right side and receives the ball. He shoves it into the box for Harry Kane who chests the ball and looks to shoot only for Jordan Henderson to slide through him and pry the ball out from under the striker’s feet.

12 mins: Another counterattack comes from a Liverpool clearance. Henderson passes the ball to Mane, who passes it behind the Tottenham defense to free Salah down the right. He takes the ball into the box, cuts inside with his left foot and shoots but his attempt is blocked and he goes for a corner.

9 minutes: Almost. The pace of this game is lightning in these early stages. Son Heung-min is played on the right side of the box and the block in the middle. Alisson brushes the ball away with the palm of her hand, but it falls to Rodrigo Bentancur, who shoots the ball straight to the keeper.

Liverpool then flies down the pitch with Jordan Henderson driving the ball forward. He passes it to Luis Díaz who feeds it to Sadio Mané. Mane sends it out to Mo Salah but the pass from him to the penalty area does not find a partner.

Min. 6: Mane has a first look at the goal with a shot from a distance that goes straight to the throat of Hugo Lloris. Liverpool scramble to get the ball back and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s change of play was cleared by Emerson Royal.

Tottenham line up with five at the back when out of possession. It will not be an easy night for Liverpool.

Emerson Royal and Dejan Kulusevski shut him down, but he walks away from them and puts the ball into the area. He runs into Trent Alexander-Arnold, who returns him to the center. Robertson wins the header and nods to Sadio Mane, who misses the ball as he tries to volley it into the spin.

Dejan Kulusevski starts the match for Tottenham, who then float the ball to the left side of the pitch. Ibrahima Konate comes out and finds the ball in the air nodding for a throw-in.

The players come out onto the Anfield pitch. The Liverpool fans come out again at full volume. The Reds will move to the top of the Premier League table if they win or draw tonight.

If Spurs get three points, they will move up to fourth place ahead of Arsenal.
