Boris Johnson promises measures against parties in Downing Street, says the leader of the Conservative Party

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will fight against the “underlying culture” in Downing Street that allowed several parties to be held in full confinement, said on Sunday the leader of his Conservative Party.

“I can assure you that the Prime Minister is very sorry and deeply regrets what happened,” Oliver Dowden, chairman of the Conservative Party, told the BBC, when asked about the parties.

“But more importantly, he is determined to ensure this does not happen and that we address the underlying culture in Downing Street,” he added.

The party scandal (“Partygate”) shakes the British Prime Minister, whom the opposition accuses of “breaking the law”.

a senior official, Sue Gray, is investigating a series of festive events revealed by the media.

The party was held at the Prime Minister’s residence, which is also his place of work.

On Wednesday, Johnson apologized to deputies at the House of Commons, but since then new revelations have continued to surface, such as the continuation of “Friday drinks” in Downing Street during the pandemic, despite restrictions preventing such gatherings.
