Body found in trunk of burnt-out car


Officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) launched an investigation overnight from Saturday to Sunday after the discovery of a body in the suitcase of a burnt-out car in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe -at-Trembles.

Emergency services were notified, around 12:50 a.m., that a vehicle was on fire at the Parc-nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies, located on Gouin Boulevard, not far from the Pointe-aux-Trembles station.

Police discovered the body after the fire was completely brought under control.

A security perimeter was erected across Pointe-aux-Prairies Park to better understand the circumstances of the event.

An autopsy will be done to determine the identity of the individual.

An expertise will also be carried out on the vehicle.
