Blue Bombers May Take Top Place in West Division With Win Over Lions – Winnipeg | The Canadian News

After punching their playoff ticket last week, the Blue Bombers may solidify a shorter route to the 2021 Gray Cup.

The Bombers (9-1) can consolidate the top spot in the Western Division on Saturday with a home win over the BC Lions (4-5).

Winnipeg, the defending Gray Cup champion, became the first team to clinch a playoff berth on Friday night with a 26-16 victory over the Edmonton Elks.

A first place would secure the right to host the West Division final on December 5 against the winner of the conference semifinal on November 28.

The Bombers could still clinch a playoff game at home even with a loss. If the BC win and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-4) lose to the Calgary Stampeders (5-5), the Blue Bombers would get at least the right to host the Western Division semifinal.

The same would also apply if BC defeated by less than 21 points and Saskatchewan defeated Calgary.

The Gray Cup game will be held on December 12 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
