Biggest Esports Event of the Year, League of Legends’ Worlds to Be Held in Iceland

The world championship of League of Legends, one of the most popular video games on the planet, will finally take place in Iceland, when they were originally scheduled to take place in China, announced Thursday (September 9th). Riot Games studio in a press release.

Last minute abandonment

At the end of August, Riot Games announced the relocation of Worlds in Europe, while the world championship of League of Legends was to be physically held in China for the second year in a row. A last minute change, with the competition starting on October 5 – the final will be played on November 6. The decision was motivated by travel constraints linked to the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2.

In recent days, several specialized media announced that Iceland was the preferred destination to organize the world championships. It is in this country that was recently held an important mid-season tournament. Professional matches of Valuing, another competitive game from Riot, were also organized in Reykjavik this year.
