Despite its deposits in the Chicontepec paleontocanal, the wells in the Los Tuxtlas region and the pipelines that cross its territory, the Veracruz area lacks natural gas. And for two years, the companies installed near the Cofre de Perote have had to reduce operations, not because of contingencies, but because of a shortage of hydrocarbon.
The industries installed along 15 kilometers of the Córdoba-Veracruz highway had contracts for the supply of natural gas by pipeline with Pemex Transformación Industrial, one of the subsidiaries of the productive company of the Mexican State, born by the energy reform of the Peñista administration.

The complaint for this extortion attempt and also for the alleged partiality of the officials of the gas and ethane marketing management of Pemex TRI was admitted by the prosecution and Marco Antonio Ortiz Ríos and Beda Carreto Santiesteban have been summoned.
