Bayer foresees investment of 7,500 million pesos in Mexico in the next three years


The German company Bayer, which participates in the pharmaceutical, consumption and solutions for agriculture businesses, will invest 7,500 million pesos in Mexico in the next three years, according to its direction in the country.

About half of these resources will be allocated to research and development, which is equivalent to between 1,200 and 1,300 million pesos each year, revealed yesterday Manuel Bravo, president and general director of the company in Mexico, during the commemoration of the 100 years presence of the transnational firm in the country.

“In these 100 years, Bayer sought to improve the quality of life of Mexicans and contribute to health care and nutrition. Together we have overcome world economic crises, natural disasters and the global pandemic”, affirmed Bravo.

The investment that the company plans to make in Mexico will be made in all its divisions, with attention to agricultural projects in regions such as Sinaloa and the central zone of the country.

After 100 years of operating in Mexico, Bayer has 5,000 employees in the country, considering the corporate work, a dozen manufacturing plants and another dozen research centers.

Just in mid-August of last year, the German firm had announced a capital expenditure of 1,000 million dollars to modernize its plant located in the municipality of Lerma, State of Mexico, where over-the-counter medicines such as Aspirin and the Alka-Seltzer.

For this year, Bayer is getting ready to announce the approval of five new therapies and its foray into the cancer drug business; meanwhile, in the business of solutions for agriculture, it is about to launch new agrochemical products and new hybrid seeds.

Manuel Bravo revealed that the company is already working on adjusting its budgets and reconfiguring some processes to deal with possible disruptions arising from the war in Ukraine.
