Banorte soars on the stock market after interest in Banamex

The shares of Grupo Financiero Banorte, which are listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange, closed on Friday with a rise of 7.44% to 148.31 pesos each, after announcing that it continues in talks to analyze the possible purchase of Citibanamex.

In fact, said increase in the price of its shares positioned Banorte as the issuer of the main stock market index, the S&P/BMV IPC, with the highest weekly increase.

Its shares even reached their best level in the last two weeks, especially after reporting Thursday afternoon that it obtained better-than-expected earnings and its executives assured, in a call with analysts, that they are seeking regulatory approval to launch a digital bank.
