‘Little Red Riding Hood and the ferocious wolves’, as Juan Soto Ivars titled, in EL PERIÓDICO of April 12, 2019, an opinion article linked to a controversial practice lived at the Tàber school in Barcelona. It is rare that the school libraries of our country are news in the media and it is also rare that families intervene in the purge of the collection of bibliographic funds of the schools. On that occasion, the self-appointed gender commission, together with the Espai i Oci association, decided to review the children’s collection of the school library with gender perspective. The separated books were renamed ‘toxic books’. The decision was made public those days and the news made it to the media and occupied the gatherings and opinion spaces of most of our newspapers.
