Isabel Diaz Ayuso still gets along well with Rocío Monastery. Popular Party and Vox have reached an agreement this Thursday in the Madrid Assembly to ratify the new provisional Administration of Telemadrid and cut your budget by 10%. This, a week after the Madrid president opened to modify the LGTB laws of the region, for greater enjoyment of the formation on her right.
Just seven days ago the agreement between the two formations seemed difficult. Vox abstained and the vote against the left-wing parties (More Madrid, PSOE and United we can) prevented Jose Antonio Sanchez was supported as the new administrator of Radio Televisión Madrid (RTM).
But Díaz Ayuso “has been giving way“, in the words of Monastery, throughout the week until the agreement has finally reached this Thursday afternoon, in the second vote, when the 77 deputies that add PP and Vox have achieved an absolute majority (this is located at 69).
Vox wants the public chain “it is not a television of the PP and Ayuso“As confirmed by regional sources to this medium, and they advocate closing it in the long term, but for now they are satisfied with reducing spending, as has been agreed.
When Vox facilitated the investiture of Isabel Díaz Ayuso with its abstention, it set three conditions to support the popular government: the reduction of the Executive to seven councils, the abolition of LGTB laws in the region and the closure of Telemadrid.
Since then, the hard-right party has not managed to get any of its maximalist claims to be applied in its purity, but it has made small concessions to the Madrid president.
Thus, although the Government was not reduced to seven councils, it was reduced from thirteen to nine. Although the LGTB laws have not been abolished, Ayuso has been open to their modification (specifically to the clauses related to the reversal of the burden of proof). And although it has not managed to close Telemadrid, it has managed to cut its resources.
“These days we have been negotiating the budget reduction, mechanisms that guarantee the transparency of external production companies and the guarantee of freedom and neutrality of those who work in Telemadrid,” Monastery said this Thursday before the plenary session of the Assembly.
As explained by the Vox spokesperson, the PP “has been giving way” and that is why they have ended up giving their support to Jose Antonio Sanchez in this afternoon’s vote. Thus, they have agreed to reduce the budget of the public channel by 10% compared to last year and to include all contributions from contingency funds.
In addition, they have agreed to have contracts published on a monthly basis and the ownership certificates of the production companies that are hired and the subcontractors, as well as guaranteeing the neutrality and non-interference of politicians on public television. A new agreement that paves the way for an understanding between both formations for the approval of the Budgets.
The PSOE, to the Constitutional
For his part, PSOE of the Assembly of Madrid has announced this Thursday an appeal for protection before the constitutional Court against the Telemadrid law approved on July 8, which changed the model for choosing the management of the public channel. And it is that he considers his rights violated in relation to the processing by single reading.
This has been indicated to the media by the socialist spokesperson in the regional Chamber, Hana Jalloul, before the celebration of the plenary session of this Thursday, when he has also indicated that his parliamentary group was not allowed to present amendments, reason why he understands that “the exercise of the parliamentary function has been stolen from them.”
“We have been denouncing this theft for a long time and we have presented it. We will see if it is admitted for processing“, the socialist spokesperson stressed.
