During the meeting of federal and state judicial authorities with the parents of Debanhi Susana Escobar Bazaldúa, it was agreed that the Court of Justice of Mexico City review the autopsy and private expert opinions that were made, with new forensic processes, in order to find the truth about this case.
After the morning conference by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, at the headquarters of the State Attorney General’s Office, the following met: Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda; the undersecretary of Public Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja; the Attorney General of Justice, Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero; as well as Mario Escobar and Dolores Bazaldúa, parents of Debanhi.
During a conference in which no questions were allowed, the undersecretary of Public Security stressed that at the meeting it was clear that ranks must be closed to clarify this fact that has affected not only Mario Escobar and his wife, but also Mexico, ” in this sense, inter-institutional collaboration is essential to solve this case”.
In said meeting, the progress of the folders, lines of work and a collaboration mechanism that allows reaching the truth and doing justice, as well as strengthening the investigations and actions of the public prosecutor’s office in relation to technical, scientific, forensic aspects began to be reviewed. , and intelligence to strengthen all the folders and the corresponding actions.
“A letter from the prosecutor’s office will be established for the Court of Justice of Mexico City, which has a highly qualified forensic area so that it can also assist in the analysis of the expert opinions of the autopsies that were carried out and, if necessary, resort to new expertise”.
The foregoing, in order to have the greatest certainty of what was the cause of Debanhi’s unfortunate death, and that there is no doubt, the federal official stressed.
It was also agreed that the Specialized Femicide Prosecutor’s Office should work together, with specialized personnel from the Ministry of Public Security, with the Intelligence Center, the Anti-Kidnapping Coordination, even with the scientific area of the National Guard, to provide a detailed follow-up. on technical issues such as telephony of the events that could occur between April 8 and 9.
As will be remembered, on April 9, the 18-year-old girl was reported missing, after having attended a party at a Quinta located in the municipality of Escobedo.
“The prosecutor (from Nuevo León) also commented that those omissions that could have occurred in the investigation from the initial part until when Debanhi’s body was found in the hotel and omissions that could have occurred, not only will the corresponding administrative processes be exhausted, but in his case, the investigation folders from which criminal responsibilities can be derived will be integrated,” Ricardo Mejía emphasized.
He stressed that, as in the case of the Nueva Castilla Motel, the videos in their possession were not delivered in a timely manner and it was pointed out that there was no storage, until they were finally provided, “which caused very valuable days to be lost, which could have been enabled investigations to be carried out more quickly.
For this reason, there will be a follow-up mechanism between the Prosecutor’s Office, Debanhi’s parents, with Attention to Victims, on behalf of the Security Secretariat.
In turn, Mario Escobar gave a concise message: “in the morning we had an approach with the president and told him about the concerns that my wife and I have in the Debanhi case, as the lawyer (prosecutor) comments, we seek the truth. We want answers for all our girls so that it doesn’t happen again.”
As will be remembered, the private autopsy that was performed on Debanhi Escobar was leaked, she was a victim of sexual abuse and murdered, while the Attorney General’s Office maintains that the young woman accidentally fell into a cistern at the Nueva Castilla motel.
The young woman was found on April 21, inside a cistern in the aforementioned establishment and her father undertook a crusade to clarify the reason for Debanhi’s death.
