Electrification continues its march at the speed of light. Every day there are more models in different types of bodies that come onto the market. Today is the turn of this four-door sedan that has all the flavor of a coupe for details such as its long hood, its low height, the drop in the roof or a very short rear overhang. The RS e-tron GT is ready to join e-tron and reinforce the German manufacturer’s alternative mobility offensive in Mexico.
The RS e-tron GT It is an imposing vehicle due to its size and low height. It is almost 5 meters long by 1.9 meters wide and just 1.4 meters high. For its part, the wheelbase is almost 3 meters. All this translates into a comfortable cabin, in which there is not even sacrifice for the legs in the second row, and in which the height does not represent a problem to travel in any of the 5 seats.
Its design is not only modern but also responds to aerodynamic and functional needs. For example, the grill (which can be ordered as an extra in the body color), allows the entry of air that serves for the cooling system of the batteries.
Similarly, in the front fascia, there are two air inlets that, depending on the temperature of the brake discs, can be folded down to allow air to pass through and help cool the discs. On the other hand, the 21 ”wheels have a special treatment to reduce the turbulence that is generated when rolling and that ends up increasing the resistance to the air, in this way a better Cx is achieved.
The lighting system has matrix led laser headlights that offer a range of just over 600 meters but also automatically adjust their intensity and distance without the driver having to be distracted at the wheel. This happens thanks to the fact that it is able to detect other vehicles on the road so it can reduce the intensity or turn off the lights in sections. In the rear there is a folding spoiler that has 2 positions. Each one is deployed at speeds of 50 km / h and 70 km / h; Added to this is the dynamic lighting system in which the rear skulls, which are joined by a horizontal strip, light up sequentially to welcome or say goodbye to the RS e-tron GT.
The cabin has a special touch because although it looks modern (like the concept of the vehicle itself), it does not fall into risky lines that end up complicating the operation of the different systems.
The front seats signed by the RS division as well as the steering wheel are electrically adjustable, the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus with 3 views can be configured at will, while all the vehicle’s systems and settings such as the Navigation Plus system can be managed on the center console. MMI, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the audio Bang & Olufsen Premium 3D co 710 watts o el Audi Drive Select.
More than 400 kilometers
The autonomy of up to 472 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle is data obtained under controlled conditions. It is important that to get the most out of the 93 kWh battery it is necessary to know how to use the regeneration system, which plays a decisive role in its performance when braking or letting the car advance by inertia.
The traction is quattro thanks to two electric motors (one for each axle), whose management is electronic without the presence of mechanical elements. In boost mode, which lasts 2.5 seconds, it delivers up to 475 kWh (646 hp), and 830 Nm (612 lb-ft). The transmission is two-speed.
With an AC outlet of 11 kW the charging time is 10 hours and for this Audi delivers a home charger. With a Direct Current (accepts a power of up to 270 kW), the time is reduced to just under 30 minutes to reach 80 percent.
