“Me, it scares me what just happened next door to us because I have two sons aged 11 and 12. It’s a family neighborhood here ”, confides to Newspaper Mena Dos Santos.

The mother had to cross an imposing crime scene at the end of the day, at the intersection of avenue Émile-
Journault and 9th Avenue, to return home with her children.

Earlier, at around 4 p.m., several shots were fired at a 22-year-old young man at the end of his street. According to Montreal police, the individual was injured in the upper body by at least one projectile, but his life is not in danger.

“Imagine if the bullets hit children. There are at least three daycares here. It’s horrible, ”protests, by bike, Lyne Côté, who has lived in Saint-Michel for 23 years.

Children cry

Magalie Bandela was in shock yesterday when she saw that her way to pick up her children from the guard was blocked by a tape delimiting the crime scene.

“I really feel insecure here. For me, it’s simple, I’m going to leave the neighborhood. It’s finish. My children are scared and they cry. I have to go get them, ”said the mother of two young people aged 2 and 12.

At the end of the evening, the canine squad and investigators were still on site to try to determine the causes and circumstances of the event.

Several bullet holes, casings and a firearm were notably discovered, but no suspect had yet been found last night.

“I heard a big boom. I wondered what it was. I experienced several shootings when I lived in Montreal-North. I don’t want to relive this in my new neighborhood in Saint-
Michel, ”says Maisa Fodale, who had come to take a look at the security perimeter with several local residents.

Not new

Saint-Michel has been known to be a hot sector of the metropolis for several weeks.

Within 500 meters of yesterday’s attempted murder, a 49-year-old woman was stabbed by her son on August 24. The drama had occurred on 13th Avenue, near rue Legendre Est.

Residents of the Saint-Michel neighborhood were also terrified last month after at least seven shots were fired at a home on 21st Avenue. Fortunately, the shooting had not injured anybody.
