Attempted murder: a 20-year-old man arrested in Quebec

A 20-year-old man was arrested in Quebec on Saturday for having attempted to kill his wife before she managed to escape.

The facts would have occurred Friday evening, in an apartment in the Sainte-Foy sector, in Quebec. Nathan Kevin Nzonen, 20, allegedly physically assaulted his spouse, in addition to kidnapping her and threatening her with death.

The 28-year-old, however, managed to flee and contact the authorities who took care of him. She was taken back to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

“The man, who was no longer there when the police arrived, was located the next day in a residence in Sillery where he was arrested by the police for numerous criminal offenses”, indicates the spokesperson of the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), Marie-Pier Rivard.

Nzonen was detained before appearing at the Quebec courthouse on Sunday. He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, theft and breach of conditions.

In the meantime, SPVQ investigators went to the scene of the crime to analyze the scene and shed light on the circumstances of the event.
