Atlanta United’s slow start to the season seems to be a thing of the past. The Georgia State side posted their fifth win in six games on Friday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, defeating Orlando City SC 3-0.

George Campbell opened hostilities for the home team. From the 25e minute, he redirected a relay from Marcelino Morelo from the head, to deceive the vigilance of goalkeeper Adam Grinwis. The crowd favorites were even able to retreat to the locker room at the half with a lead of two goals with a little help. An Atlanta free kick entering the penalty area hit Daryl Dike in 38e minute, who saw the ball finish its run in his own net.
Finally, in the 72nd minute, Ezequiel Barco was very patient with the ball, before taking a shot to get his third goal.
Home goalkeeper Brad Guzan blocked two shots to sign the shutout.
In the Eastern Conference standings, Atlanta sits eighth, with 30 points, tied with DC United, who however hold the seventh and final qualifying spot by virtue of their priority game. These two clubs are only one point behind CF Montreal.
