Arrests in fatal accident, but the driver remains at large: OPP

Hagersville –

Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on April 23, 2021 in Hagersville.

At the time, OPP reported that a 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a pickup hit him from behind. OPP said the impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to jump off his bike and be run over by a passing van.

OPP identified the victim as Alexander Dalton of Hagersville.

Officers said the truck fled the scene and was later found. It was described as a blue 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe.

OPP issued an update Monday morning that said 25-year-old Dakota Davis of Oshweken has been charged with Accessory after the fact. Acacia Emery, also 25, of Oshweken, has been charged with public mischief.

However, investigators are still trying to identify the driver.

The OPP tweeted an emotional plea from Dalton’s family asking for the public’s help.

“I don’t think I’m handling it well. He has left a big hole and that pain is never going to fill, “said Dalton’s mother in the video publication.

The OPP is asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam or video footage of the incident to come forward.
