The iPhone 13 series is very similar to the iPhone 12 line in terms of appearance and overall performance.
However, according to From Bloomberg Mark Gurman almost always reliable, that could change with next year’s iPhone 14. Gurman says the iPhone 14 will feature a “complete redesign” and the first significant update to the smartphone look since the 2017 iPhone X.
It could also be argued that, at least as far as design is concerned, the switch from iPhone 11 to iPhone 12 was substantial due to its square sides and completely redesigned cameras.
Beyond stating that the iPhone 14 will take on an entirely new look, Gurman offered no additional details on the redesign of the iPhone 14. However, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated that Apple will ditch the display notch with its line. from iPhone 2022, saying that the smartphone will feature a punch-hole front camera like most high-end Android smartphones.
Other recent rumors indicate that Apple will likely remove the iPhone mini from its lineup in favor of a larger “regular” model alongside its “Pro” devices. We’ve also seen reports of an under-display Touch ID fingerprint sensor, though it’s unclear if this technology will make its way to Apple’s 2022 smartphone lineup or in future devices.
As always, approach these rumors with an air of skepticism. Apple’s iPhone 13 series has just been released, and the iPhone 14 devices are a year away, so the tech giant’s strategy regarding the smartphone lineup could easily change in the coming months.
