This week, Quebec experienced the coldest temperatures in North America: “Even in the Arctic, it wasn’t that cold!” exclaimed meteorologist Gilles Brien.

Quebec would have experienced the coldest January in 18 years.

In the last few days, in Lac-Saint-Jean, temperatures have reached -45 degrees Celsius.

“It’s a very cold winter; we had the coldest month of January for 18 years,” said Mr. Brien.

Quebecers will be entitled to a cold start to the spring break. However, as of next week, Quebec will return to less extreme temperatures.

“We should have a return to normal next Saturday, in -1 and -2. For the moment, we are very far from normal,” added Mr. Brien.

“We still have 30 to 40 days left. And if we listen to the groundhog, it’s even more than that,” concluded the meteorologist.
