An arrest warrant was issued across Canada for a man wanted in connection with the death of a 31-year-old woman in northeast Edmonton on Sunday.
The Edmonton Police Service issued a press release Thursday night asking for clues as to the whereabouts of Donny Nathan Meeches, 31. They said Meeches is wanted for second degree murder.
According to police, officers responded to a call about an injured woman at a home in the area of 139th Avenue and 35th Street around 8 p.m. Sunday.
“Upon arrival, officers located the woman and gave her first aid, however, she succumbed to injuries at the scene,” police said.
An autopsy was completed early Thursday and confirmed that the woman was a homicide victim. Police said they have decided to hide the cause of death for “investigative reasons.”
“As the woman’s 11-year-old son was present at the time of her death, her name is withheld to protect her privacy during this difficult time,” police added.
