President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced on Thursday that in the next few hours it will send the Congress a proposal for constitutional reform of the electoral systemafter repeatedly criticizing the electoral referee.
The ruler has accused the National Electoral Institute (INE) of being in favor of his opponents, the last time after winning a recall referendum on his administration this month, in which the participation was not high enough for the consultation to be binding.
López Obrador said last month that the initiative seeks that “the people” directly choose magistrates and councilors in the area, among other measures.
