AMLO rules out that growing violence in Sonora, Guerrero and Zacatecas is a message for new governments

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador admitted that security has not improved in the states of Zacatecas, Sonora and Guerrero, where this year David Monreal, Alfonso Durazo and Evelyn Salgado Pineda were appointed as new governors, respectively, all three by the Morena party.

During his press conference, which this time was held in Oaxaca, President López Obrador ruled out that the increase in violence in those states is a message of organized crime for the new governments.

He argued that in Zacatecas and Sonora There has been a spiral of violence for several years, which has even increased. And he pointed out that in the case of Guerrero the situation remains the same.

“I do not see it that way, I believe that the behavior of the crime incidence has not changed. Already, before the governor of Zacatecas took office, violence was already growing and intensifying, and that is why we are taking action.

“In the case of Guerrero, we are going to say that it remains as it was before. Yes, there are these unfortunate acts of violence.

“In Sonora, violence was also growing, especially in the south, in Guaymas, in Cajeme, but we are already acting and I could tell you that there has been a very small decrease, but a decrease in homicides in general this year,” he said. the federal agent.

On Zacatecas various episodes of violence have occurred in recent months. Just over the weekend, there were clashes between criminal groups, which left at least eight people killed. On November 18, 10 bodies were hung from a bridge, and just on November 23, another eight bodies were again found on bridges and trees in Fresnillo.

On Sonora, the last episode of violence was last Thursday when a criminal group organized an attack on the municipal presidency of Guaymas, which caused the death of a young activist and a municipal security escort. One of the hitmen who carried out the armed attack also died in the event.

On Guerrero, the daily homicide registry is maintained, mainly in Acapulco, Chilpancingo, Iguala, Zihuatanejo and Benito Juárez.
