Cancun, QR. There will be no dialogue in the area impacted by the works on Section 5 of the Mayan Train. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador declined Sélvame del Tren’s proposal to go to Playa del Carmen, but announced that he will ask ejidatarios from Tulum respond to this request made by opponents of the project.
During his morning conference this Thursday, April 21, López Obrador argued that he will not attend the meeting, “because some environmentalists have political purposes.”
He justified his refusal with the fact that he had to take care of the presidential investiture and stressed that his opponents “are very upset and invent things.”
He announced that he will ask the peasants of the Jacinto Pat ejido to represent him against the environmentalists who proposed the meeting to be held in Quintana Roo.
“I am going to appoint representatives, because they want me to go there, it is better that those from Ejido Jacinto Pat represent me, I am going to send a letter to them to see if they want to represent me and that they deal with real or false environmentalists,” he argued.
Instead, the president clarified that he maintains his invitation, but only to the celebrities who participated in the video against the Mayan Train to come to the National Palace.
“If those who left come here, the famous ones, well here we serve them at the National Palace, I talk to them, but imagine attending to those from CIDE, or the group of Enrique Krauze or Héctor Aguilar Camín, when am I going to convince them? So no,” she warned.
“Whenever they want they can come. And you also have to take care of the presidential investiture, it would be a meeting with them, you (reporters) could not be there, after they declare you, because I have to defend the transformation project and I cannot expose myself because they are also very angry , inventing things”, he insisted.
In a previous conference, López Obrador announced that Diego Prieto, general director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), will explain to the “famous” everything related to the anthropological rescue that has been carried out with the construction of the mayan train.
While the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, in charge of María Luisa Albores, will detail what happens with the cenotes, underground rivers and the native flora and fauna.
