American Airlines will reduce its international flights due to delay in Boeing deliveries

The airline American Airlines announced Thursday that it will reduce its international frequencies in the boreal summer of 2022 due to delays in the deliveries of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

“Boeing still cannot deliver the 787s that we have ordered, in particular 13 aircraft that should be part of our fleet for the winter,” said Vasu Raja, a senior manager of the firm, in a letter to the group’s employees.

Without these devices “we will not be able to secure as many international flights as we had planned for next summer,” he said.

Since mid-2020, Boeing has spotted some 787 manufacturing problems, suspended deliveries, and reduced the pace of production from five to just two planes per month.

“We deeply regret the impact on our consumers and are working to resume deliveries of the new 787s,” a Boeing spokesperson told AFP.
