AmCham assures that the key to Mexico’s economic recovery is in the domestic market

Given the persistent inflationary pressures worldwide and the absence of conditions for private investment in our country, the American Chambers México (AmCham) foresees that the economic growth of Mexico would be around 1.8% and 2.5% by 2022, so the key to recovery lies in the Internal market.

Luis Fonnerrada, AmCham’s economic advisor, said that “messages of confidence and legal certainty from the government and a greater boost to the private sector through public investment” are required to achieve greater economic growth.

The private body that represents the American business community, which contributes 20% of private investment in Mexico, said that now the key to the Mexican recovery It must be supported by the domestic market.

“The successful recovery during the following year will depend mainly on the strengthening of the domestic market, through the creation of better jobs in terms of conditions and competitive salaries, and the recovery in the private investment”, Said the private sector specialist.

For his part, he warned that given the rapid increase seen in November, the inflation in Mexico it may be around 8 percent at the end of 2021.

“By 2021 we foresee that the START it will grow between 5.2% and 5.6%, which represents a lower growth than expected during the first semester of the year, among other aspects due to the negative variation that was registered during the third quarter. On the other hand, for 2022 a growth of between 1.8% and 2.5% is expected ”, Foncerrada pointed out.
