All the changes in the abilities of the heroes of ‘Overwatch 2’

The surveillance 2 The PVP beta starts tomorrow and as we prepare for Blizzard to open it up to the general public, it’s worth taking a look at all the confirmed hero changes. Many of the characters are being tweaked due to the switch from 6v6 to 5v5, with one tank per team removed.

MORE FROM FORBESAccess to the Overwatch 2 beta will be granted via Twitch Drops from xQc, Pokimane, and many other streamers

With a couple of exceptions, I won’t go into value changes in terms of how much healing and damage a specific ability can deal. Those will be constantly changing and could have changed since the alpha. Let’s first go over role-based passives and four important revisions.

Role-Based Liabilities

Each hero will now have a passive ability based on their role.

  • Tanks will have reduced recoil. Teammates that heal tanks and enemies that damage them will take less max charge than other heroes.
  • All damage heroes have faster base movement.
  • All support heroes have a self-healing passive.

Bastion surveillance 2 Changes

The omnic is online for some massive changes in surveillance 2. It’s getting a complete overhaul with some abilities being swapped in and out.

  • The self-healing ability is gone, so Bastion can no longer self-heal.
  • Replacing the auto-repair is a new right-click ability called Tactical Grenade. This can bounce off walls for a short time before exploding, though it will stick to floors and enemies. It can also be used for a self-knockdown effect similar to Junkrat’s mine.
  • Bastion can now move while in Setup: Sentinel (aka Turret Mode). Has unlimited ammo but will be on a cooldown. Damage has also been reduced.
  • Bastion’s new Ultimate is called Configuration: Artillery. They will be rooted to the ground and you can fire three artillery shells anywhere on the map (even from spawning).
  • They now have an adorable hat.

MORE FROM FORBESOverwatch 2: Sombra can hack enemies in stealth mode

I don’t think Shadow’s changes are as dramatic as Bastion’s, but they’re still pretty extensive given the big tweaks to how Hack works.

  • Hacking will only prevent enemies from using their abilities for a second, though they will remain in a hacked state for longer. Its location will be revealed to Sombra’s teammates through walls for the duration. Sombra also deals more damage to hacked targets.
  • Hack cooldown is much shorter, though it will not be reduced for health pack hacks. Those will stay hacked for 30 seconds instead of the current 60.
  • Sombra can hack without coming out of stealth, but will be visible during the cast time.
  • EMP will deal damage equal to 40% of the current health of any hacked target.

Orisha surveillance 2 Changes

MORE FROM FORBESOrisa’s rework is one of Overwatch 2’s biggest and best surprises

For me, the Orisa changes in surveillance 2 They are the most exciting of all.

  • He no longer has a shield, Stop! o Supercharger skills.
  • His main fire has unlimited ammo and uses an overheat mechanic instead. The projectiles have falling damage and reduce in size as they move away from her.
  • Fortify temporarily adds 125 health. Orisa is immune to status effects for the duration, and the heat generated by her augmented fusion controller is reduced while the ability is active. She will also have slower movement while using Fortify.
  • Orisa’s right click ability is a javelin of energy that she throws at enemies. This will stun a target and knock them back. They will take more damage if they are hit against a wall.
  • The Javelin Spin ability destroys projectiles. Increases Orisa’s movement speed. Also damages and knocks back enemies on contact. Is the best.
  • Orisa’s new ultimate is Terra Surge. Gains the effects of Fortify and stays in her location while pulling nearby enemies towards her. She can hit the javelin to deal heavy damage to them.

doomfist surveillance 2 Changes

Doomfist will be a tank in surveillance 2. That will allow him to keep most of his team while reducing the amount of crowd control abilities between supports and DPS heroes.

  • Health increased to 450.
  • Rising Uppercut is gone.
  • Seismic Slam now incorporates vertical movement. Can be canceled into Rocket Punch to help Doomfist reach high ground.
  • Rocket Punch’s damage is significantly reduced, making it less likely to be crushed with a single shot.
  • Doomfist has a defensive ability called Power Block. Reduces incoming damage from the front by 90%. If he absorbs enough damage, his gauntlet will overload. This means that on the next use of Rocket Punch, it will travel farther and faster and deal more damage.
  • Meteor Strike will slow all enemies it connects with unless you take them out.

Let’s move on to the (possibly) smaller ability changes.

Reinhardt surveillance 2 Changes

The German tank will have two charges from its Fire Strike. His Charge will be easier to control and you will be able to cancel it.

Winston surveillance 2 Changes

The monkey of the Moon will have an alternate fire. His Tesla Cannon will have a mid-range charged shot tied to the right click. He won’t shoot anyone, but he’ll be able to deal push damage from further away and build his ult.

zarya surveillance 2 Changes

Zarya’s bubbles now have a shared cooldown. She can apply both to allies or use both on herself. They are also a bit more durable. You’ll need to be aware of cooldown management with this change.

trash surveillance 2 Changes

There is a small Junkrat change that I noticed during the surveillance 2 Alpha PvP. Enemies caught in her trap can now move around a bit, so they can avoid enemy attacks a bit more easily, even if they can’t get out.

Cassidy surveillance 2 Changes

MORE FROM FORBESOverwatch 2 Beta: Breaking Down Some Under-the-Radar Hero Reworks

Flashbang is gone, replaced by a homing grenade. It’s a big change, but it aligns with the philosophy of reducing CC in the game.

Echo surveillance 2 changes

I didn’t catch this one myself during the alpha so I need to give it Flats a tip of the cap. When Echo uses Duplicate, her health maxes out at 300 even if she transforms into a tank. That will make it easier to get her out of Duplicate form while whittling down her Ultimate.

Mei surveillance 2 Changes

His main shot from the Endothermic Blaster will no longer freeze enemies in place. However, it will slow down opponents and deal more damage than in the past.

brigitte surveillance 2 Changes

Brig’s Shield Bash will no longer stun enemies in surveillance 2. It will deal a slight knockback and significantly more damage than before. It will also travel much further. This is the only major ability change for supports in terms of function.

First surveillance 2 the beta starts on April 26 at 2 p.m. You can get guaranteed access by watching certain Twitch streamers for four hours on Wednesday.
