Global News confirmed with sources that the government will make the announcement in its regularly scheduled COVID-19 update on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.

Sources said pharmacies will be able to deliver rapid tests, although the number of tests and the timeline for when the person can return for more tests remains unclear.

The person must be asymptomatic and have a valid Alberta health care card.

Sources also tell Global News that while rapid tests will be available free of charge, they will not replace the Restrictions Waiver Program (REP), which means that a person still needs to get vaccinated twice to board a plane or eat at a restaurant. .
