Employees who do not submit proof of vaccination by the end of November will be required to submit a negative PCR or rapid COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of each work day or scheduled shift, continuously, or be ask them to get an accommodation based on Alberta Human Rights Law.

“The message is clear: We value our public servants and the important work they do,” Kenney said.

“That’s why we want to make sure they operate in safe workplaces and that we’re doing everything we can to protect the billions of Albertans they serve.”

Kenney said that most employees within Alberta’s broader public sector, including Alberta Health Services, secondary positions, government agencies, boards and commissions have already adopted similar policies.

Health and education ministers will also write to Alberta school boards in the coming days asking them to consider adopting similar policies for their employees, including teachers.

More to come.
