Aeroméxico announces first flights with biofuel

Grupo Aeroméxico reported this Sunday that, within the framework of the International Day Against Climate Change, it will operate its first flights between the United States and Mexico (San Francisco-Mexico City and Guadalajara) using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with which it will reduce 27 tons of CO2, equivalent to more than 3,800 cars ceasing to circulate one day in CDMX.

For these operations, Boeing 737-800 teams with GE / Safran CFM56 engines were designated and 40,000 liters of sustainable fuel made from waste animal fats and vegetable oils were purchased, as well as Jet A jet fuel. long-term, the supplier was Neste Company. “For more than a decade we have had a fuel efficiency program that has allowed us to reduce around 270,000 tons of CO2,” said the manager of Sustainable Project Planning, María Paradis.
