Additional collection efforts reach 241,100 million pesos at the end of May: SAT

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported that the additional collection efforts registered 241,134 million pesos at the end of May, this represented 8.4% more than what was recorded during the first five months of 2021.

The increase in collection was driven by the actions implemented in collection efficiency that totaled 77,988 million pesos, an annual growth of 65.4 percent.

Collection efficiency consists of three programs: compliance with obligations, deep surveillance and coercive collection.

In this sense, the fulfillment of obligations collected 36,179 million pesos, which recorded an annual growth of 64.6%. Deep surveillance collected 28,864 million pesos, an annual increase of 171.1 percent.

The coercive collection, for its part, left the treasury 12,945 million pesos, which suffered an annual contraction of 10.9%, according to preliminary figures from the treasury.

The collection efficiency actions have taken more participation because as of May 2021 they represented 21% of the total; a year later their share was 32%, according to the SAT.

Meanwhile, the share of collection efficiency in large taxpayers fell from 36 to 32% in the reference period. While the participation of auditing also suffered a contraction, it went from 43 to 36 percent.

“In recent years it has been observed that control actions strengthen a culture for better voluntary compliance and self-correction,” revealed the SAT in the Federal Government Revenue report for May.

Among the additional collection efforts are the items of large taxpayers and control.

In the case of large taxpayers, the collection was 77,305 million pesos, an annual drop of 4.1% real.

Meanwhile, the audit contributed 85,841 million pesos to the treasury, an annual contraction of 9.4 percent.

Taxes grew 3.3%

At the same time, it was reported that federal government tax revenues stood at 1.7 trillion pesos at the end of May. This meant an annual growth of 3.3 percent.

“From January to May 2022, internal contributions reached 1.3 billion pesos; that is, 76% of total tax revenue, which represents a real increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2021, due to the increase in annual income tax payments,” revealed the SAT.

The remaining 24% is due to contributions to foreign trade, which amounted to 424,301 million pesos. This represented an increase of 1.3% compared to the first five months of 2021.

Meanwhile, the total income of the federal government amounted to 2,081 billion pesos, at the end of May, grew 1.2% in annual comparison.
