Several people were injured Sunday night after two trains collided in southern Englandcoinciding sources explained.
According to the local press, this accident, which took place shortly before 19:00 (local and GMT), caused a dozen minor injuries.
The transport police indicated on Twitter that they had evidence of several minor injuries, “but fortunately no one died.”
“We are currently at the scene of a rail accident between two trains between Andover and Salisbury,” tweeted the local police, who specified that the emergency services were posted there.
According to a spokesperson for the British rail network, the last car of the first train derailed after colliding with an object as it exited a tunnel near Salisbury station, about 140 kilometers from London, and was then hit by the second train.
Transport Minister Grant Shapps announced the opening of an investigation.
“We need to understand how it could happen to prevent it from happening again in the future,” Shapps said.
