The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested a 25-year-old man of Spanish nationality in Lloret de Mar (La Selva) for his involvement in the burning of a plainclothes police car of the Barcelona Urban Guard at dawn from September 24 to 25, according to sources consulted by EL PERIÓDICO. The police vehicle, which was not branded as can be seen in the image that accompanies this news, was burned during the serious altercations that followed a controversial macro-bottle that brought together more than 40,000 people – many of these minors – on Avenida Maria Cristina and the Joan Miró park. The man was detained – yesterday afternoon at 5:00 pm – two months after the incident, following an investigation by the GIDOP (Grup d’Investigació de Delictes d’Ordre Públic).
The events occurred at the end of the night, when several cars from La Urbana came to attend one of the emergencies – there were several fights that ended in stabbings – near the Plaza de España and ended up being attacked. by a group of young people, according to Mossos sources. The car that ended up completely burned was next to other branded vehicles, which were also vandalized. The person arrested yesterday is considered the author of setting fire to the civilian car. The rest of the vehicles were damaged but did not burn.
