A woman seriously injured by a car in Saint-Jérôme

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck on Saturday morning by a car near the intersection of Martigny and Laviolette streets, in Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians.

The accident took place shortly after 9 a.m. The pedestrian, a 44-year-old woman, was walking south when she was struck by a car traveling west on Laviolette Street.

“The victim was transported directly to the Sacré-Cœur hospital with serious injuries,” said acting sergeant of the Saint-Jérôme police, Alain-François Differ, who clarified that there was no fear for the lady’s life.

The city police were assisted by those from Mirabel to reconstruct the scene.

According to initial information, the incident was caused by a traffic violation, but was not of a criminal nature.
