READ Saskatoon has launched a new product called Booktivities.
As part of Literacy Month, Booktivities is a way for families and children to get together and have fun while learning and reading.
READ Saskatoon Executive Director Sheryl Harrow-Yurach says the launch is just in time for the holiday season and is a means of giving back to local authors who support READ Saskatoon.
“We have been very fortunate over the years to have authors from Western Canada support our work,” said Harrow-Yurach. “This is an opportunity for us to give back while creating some fun learning packages for families and kids.”
Harrow-Yurach says there are two packages with books, coloring pages, stickers, craft activities, and more. One is designed for newborns through the first grade age group, while the other is geared toward those in grades 2-4.
“Booktivities is a great way for children and families to learn and celebrate Western Canadian authors and participate in some fun learning activities,” said Harrow-Yurach.
Harrow-Yurach says bookstore activities improve literacy across the province and add another source of income to support the agency’s cause, free programming for families and children.
