Yanick Frenette, 26, took advantage of the times when he had to clean the women’s toilets to slip his phone into the crease of his pants and film under the toilet cubicles.

A client became aware of the scheme in November 2019 and immediately alerted the police. The offender had several victims, but the exact number could not be established. The individual had been indulging in his crimes since June 2019.

This earned him voyeurism charges for which he was sentenced, Thursday, at the Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce courthouse, to 90 days in prison to be served on weekends.

According to the sexological report cited by the Crown prosecutor, Me Marie-Andrée Veilleux, Yanick Frenette presents “a risk of recidivism [qui se situe] above average [pour les crimes] of a sexual nature.

The individual has a fantasy deviance of the urophilia type, that is to say an anomaly of sexual functioning linked to urine. “It is probably because of this fantasy that [les crimes ont] was committed in the context where the women were in the toilets,” explained Mr. Veilleux.

The Crown also noted that the accused used his position as an employee to take advantage of the situation, which must be noted as an aggravating factor.

In addition to the 90-day detention, Yanick Frenette will have to respect a three-year probation including a two-year therapeutic follow-up. He will also have to perform 125 hours of community work.
