Firefighters battled a fire that destroyed a building in Lawrencetown early Tuesday morning.
Crews were called to the structure fire in a mixed-occupancy commercial building in the 2600 block of Lawrencetown Rd. Just after 3 a.m.
“It’s a total loss… It was a defensive fire, which means we couldn’t even get into the building to try to put it out. The roof collapsed shortly after we arrived, ”said Chuck Bezanson, assistant chief of operations for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency.
